A Love of Patients: From RN to Entrepreneur

In this episode, Jayme and Christine Murphy discussed Christine's journey from being a nurse practitioner for 22 years to opening her own business, Moi Health and Wellness, which now has three locations.

Christine shared how her passion for helping people, particularly with weight loss, grew from treating her daughter and husband, leading to word-of-mouth referrals and the expansion of her business. The business now offers men's health, direct primary care, functional medicine, women's health, and aesthetics. She has a passion for helping people feel better about themselves, whether through medical treatments or providing emotional support.


Direct Primary Care Revolution
Christine discussed her transition from primary care to direct primary care, where she no longer takes insurance but offers more personalized care. She mentioned that her patients have noticed the difference and appreciate the one-on-one guidance and deeper investigation into their health issues. Jayme agreed, highlighting the benefits of having more control over their healthcare and the potential for a revolution in the healthcare industry. Christine also shared a recent case where a patient's milk allergy was the cause of a rash, emphasizing the importance of digging deep to find the root cause of a problem.

Entrepreneurship Challenges and Pioneering Efforts
Jayme and Christine discussed the challenges of becoming an entrepreneur, with Christine identifying technology as her biggest problem.  Christine's weight loss injectable medication business, which was one of the first in Massachusetts, was also discussed. Jayme expressed her appreciation for Christine's pioneering efforts and asked about a gift she had discovered along the way.

Christine has built a team of dedicated employees, including a medical assistant, nurse practitioner, and nurse, some of whom she worked with previously. She takes pride in supporting her team's growth and development. Christine's business not only allows her to fulfill her purpose of helping others but also provides employment opportunities for others. Her advice to other women aspiring to start their own businesses would likely revolve around following one's passion, taking risks, and fostering a supportive team.
